A guide to referrals for patients and GPs in Herefordshire and Worcestershire

Healios have partnered with Herefordshire and Worcestershire ICB to deliver a Right to Choose referral pathway for autism and ADHD assessments, and support services, for children, young people and adults. 

Our autism and ADHD assessments for children and young people include a face to face observation session. All other appointments are conducted online via our secure Panacea patient portal

As a patient or parent in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, your GP can refer you or your child to Healios via the Right to Choose referral pathway for autism and ADHD assessments, and support services, for children, young people and adults. You just need to ask your GP to complete our quick and easy online referral form using the steps below.

Yes, Healios has been accredited to deliver a Right to Choose referral pathway for autism and ADHD assessments, and support services, for children, young people and adults.

How will I know if you've received my or my child's Right to Choose referral?

As soon as your GP submits the Right to Choose referral to Healios, we’ll send an automated confirmation email to you and your GP outlining the next steps. This will include how you can activate your Healios account and complete any required forms. If you have not received this email within a few days, we recommend you check your junk or spam folder, or reach out to Healios directly at [email protected]. Please check with your GP first, that they have completed the referral to Healios.

What happens after the assessment with Healios?

You will receive a feedback appointment where the clinician will discuss the assessment outcome and their clinical decisions. You will also receive a detailed clinical report, and a copy will be shared with your GP.

What happens if a Right to Choose referral is not suitable?

If we’re not able to proceed with your referral we’ll contact you and your GP to let you know, along with the reason why and recommended next steps for your GP.

I'm already on a waiting list for an NHS assessment. Can I change it to Right to Choose?

Yes, as long as your GP agrees to change the referral to a Right to Choose ADHD assessment or Right to Choose autism assessment. If you would like to do this, please contact your GP.

As a GP or healthcare professional in England, your patients have the right to choose a specialist service provider. At Healios, we hold a Herefordshire and Worcestershire ICB contract to provide NHS Right to Choose autism and ADHD assessments to children, and young people, and adults.

For Herefordshire and Worcestershire patients the observation session for Children and Young Person ADHD and Autism assessments take place at either BHI Parkside in Bromsgrove or Station Medical Centre in Hereford.

To refer a patient, you just need complete our quick and easy online referral form using the steps below.

Where does the Children and Young Person in-person observation assessment take place and how are these booked?

When we book your patients’ Right to Choose CYP autism or ADHD appointments they will be allocated an in-person observation session at BHI Parkside in Bromsgrove or Station Medical Centre in Hereford.

All other appointments will be online via our secure Panacea patient portal. Your patient will receive confirmation of their appointments via email with all dates, times, logins and location addresses.

How long is the Healios Right to Choose waiting list?
Are Healios an eligible Right to Choose provider?

Yes, we hold a Herefordshire and Worcestershire ICB contract to provide NHS Right to Choose autism and ADHD assessments to children, and young people, and adults. 

My patient is already on a waiting list for an NHS assessment. Can I change it to Right to Choose with Healios so they can be seen sooner?

Yes, if you agree to change the referral to Right to Choose please proceed with the referral.

Local Right to Choose providers are required to notify local NHS services to take patients off the NHS waiting list for an autism and ADHD diagnostic assessment once the transfer for assessment has been deemed suitable and is in progress.

What happens after the assessment with Healios?

The patient or family will receive a feedback appointment where the clinician will discuss the assessment outcome and their clinical decisions. They will receive a clinical report, and a copy will be shared with you (the GP).

Has Healios been accredited to provide ADHD medication management for under 18s?

No. For ADHD medication management for under 18s, this service is provided by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust (HWHCT). If medication is required following an ADHD diagnosis, Healios will transfer the child or young person to HWHCT to continue their care.

How will I know if you've received a patient's Right to Choose referral?

As soon as you submit the Right to Choose referral to Healios, we’ll send a confrimation email to both the patient and you (the GP) with next steps. This will include how the patient or family can activate their Healios account and complete any required forms. If the patient or family have not received this email within a few days, we recommend they check their junk or spam folder, or reach out to Healios directly. 

What happens if a Right to Choose referral is not suitable?

If we’re not able to proceed with your patient’s referral, either because it’s not suitable for assessment or our online service, we’ll contact both you and the patient to let you know, along with the reason why and recommend next steps you may wish to take.
